Located in the unincorporated area of Ventura County, Somis lies just north of the city of Camarillo. Set among lemon and avocado groves, Somis is obviously an equestrian paradise with 58 riding and boarding facilities in addition to Olympic equestrian training facilities. Students in Somis attend the Somis Union School District and while it has no formal local government, it is serviced by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department and the Ventura County Fire Department.
Somis is well known for various family owned establishments including the Somis Café & Market—a Mexican café—and the “Somis Nut House” which has been selling a variety of nuts, dried fruits, and gift baskets since 1959. At the Underwood Family Farms, family can pick favorite fruits and vegetables year round or enjoy a hayride and seasonal activities.
Also home to the Saticoy Country Club, the Somis landmark has been dubbed, “the oldest and finest golf club in Ventura County.” Saticoy Country Club offers excellent golfing, fine dining, and venues for weddings and special events.
